This was an illustration by German traveler/author Hugo Groethe in the early 1900’s in his published travel book on Asia Minor in 1908. The Zeytun Armenian warrior above is wearing the traditional village garb of Armenians of Zeytun Qaza (district) and has a Yemeni Hanchar (Dagger) on his right loin, and his rifle is a classic “Chaqmaqlu” or Flintlock Ottoman rifle, a better improvised variation these were made by Zeytun Armenian gunsmiths from 1894 and forth and was called “Zeytun Ajari” or Zeytun Aceri in Turkish which means Zeytun Innovation or brainchild.
